Aquatick Pool - Setup

Aquatick Pool setup is used to get the pool chemistry right, keeping the pH stable and protecting the water from UV radiation which breaks down the chlorine.

The SetUp Programme provides the first balance: SetUp Part 1 of 2 pushing the pH up and SetUp Part 2 of 2 pushing the pH down. This is known as a buffer, so the pH will remain very stable - usually about 7.8.

The SetUp Programme has two components:

  • Water Conditioner
  • ProChlor - Cyanuric acid

Part 1 of 2 (Water Conditioner): increases the total alkalinity and the total hardness of the water. The hardness is raised by about 30ppm and the alkalinity is raised to about 140ppm. This raises the pH a little and makes it very stable.

Part 2 of 2 (ProChlor): is cyanuric acid. It protects chlorine in water from destruction by UV radiation. This makes the chlorine last a lot longer. For this to be really effective it needs to be about 70ppm. It is a weak acid and at the concentration we recommend, it has a downward effect on pH.

Aquatick Pool - Maintenance

The Aquatick 1 minute poolcare system maintains the pH, the alkalinity and the cyanuric acid levels within acceptable limits throughout the season.

The Maintenance Programme has three components:

  • Part 1 of 3: SoftChlor
  • Part 2 of 3: Q.San
  • Part 3 of 3: TriChlor

Part 1 of 3 (SoftChlor) is a strong sodium salt chlorine solution that is totally soluble in water. As well as a source of chlorine it also contributes alkalinity to the water. It has an upward effect on pH.

Part 2 of 3 (Q.San) has several very useful properties. It works physically (organisms cannot develop immunity to it) on bacteria and algae. It works synergistically with chlorine so that together they are more effective than separately. It also has coagulation properties so it helps keep the water clear by removing fine particles from the pool water. Q.San is a very sophisticated product.

Part 3 of 3 (TriChlor) is a stabilized form of chlorine pressed into tablets. It is a mixture of cyanuric acid and chlorine. It is excellent as a slow release source of chlorine so it is used to trickle feed chlorine into the pool water over four or five days. It is quite acidic and thus it takes alkalinity out of the water and has a downward effect on pH.

Aquatick Spa

The Aquatick Spa Pool Treatment System is a completely balanced system that keeps the water clear, hygienic and inviting regardless of the number of bathers. The unique combination of blended powders along with the tablets and the liquid system cleaner work synergistically to keep the necessary chemical levels in balance and kill bacteria that is introduced to the water.

The Aquatick Spa Pool Treatment System uses four products: two powders, some tablets and a liquid system cleaner.

  • Aquatick Spa Powder ONE sets up the water balance by adding alkalinity and hardness and charges the water with a quiescent disinfectant.
  • Aquatick Spa Powder TWO activates the quiescent disinfectant, oxidises organic matter in the water and maintains the correct pH and water balance.
  • Aquatick Spa Bromine Tablets continuously release small quantities of bromine and chlorine into the water.

Prochlor

ProChlor is used in pool water to protect the chlorine from degradation by ultra violet radiation. Chlorine in pool water is very readily destroyed by sunlight. Adding ProChlor to the pool water greatly reduces this breakdown. It also, when used in junction with sodium bicarbonate, helps set up a powerful buffer that keeps the pH very stable.

It is essential to use ProChlor in the summer but it is also beneficial, for the reason mentioned above, to use it all year round if the pool is being used.

It is only slightly soluble so getting it dissolved in the water is not all that easy. The simplest way is to cast about a third of the needed amount down the pool sides every two or three days until the complete amount is used. If sodium bicarbonate has been added to the water wait one day before adding ProChlor.

Softchlor

SoftChlor is sodium hypochlorite, a safe source of chlorine with a minimal available chlorine content of 130g/L. The base properties of SoftChlor help maintain the alkalinity of the water. Being a sodium salt solution, it is totally soluble and disperses instantly. It is excellent for use with dosing pumps and automatic systems. It will not clog the suction and dispensing tubes. It is a much stronger solution than can be made with forms of chlorine.

Being so readily soluble SoftChlor very quickly disperses through the pool water and so it is very suitable for use in public pools particularly when used with an automatically controlled dosing system. Such a system will maintain the chlorine concentration in the water at an optimum level and even in very high bather loads it will keep the bacterial infestation at an acceptable level.

The base nature of SoftChlor and the by-products from the chlorination process in the water will counteract the acidity of breakpoint chlorination and thus help to maintain the balance of alkaline salts in the water that will in turn contribute to the water balance equation. That is, it makes for easier pool water chemistry maintenance.

For brilliant water quality and easy pool water management use SoftChlor in conjunction with carbon dioxide pH control.

ClearAll 303

Use CLEARALL 303 as part of a proper pool water maintenance programme as an algaecide, an algaestat, a coagulant, a bactericide, and a chlorine enhancer.

CLEARALL 303 is effective at all pH values and compatible with all other swimming pool chemicals. In fact it works synergistically with chlorine and together they are each more effective at killing bacteria and algae than separately.

It will not cause foam even when added at high concentration slug doses and it will not interfere with the efficient operation of any type of filter.

Using 303 regularly:
  • Makes chlorine more effective.
  • Helps keep pool water clear of algal growth.
  • Helps keep pool water clear by coagulating fine particles so they are more readily filtered out of the water.
  • Helps clear dissolved colours from water caused by organic contamination.
  • Overfeed or empty container function alerts you attention is needed.

PAC

PAC liquid floc is a 360 g/l solution of poly aluminium chloride. It is a primary inorganic coagulant. It is like alum (the standard “floc” used in swimming pools) but it has stronger flocculating and coagulating power.

It is particularly good at helping to clean up dirty water and water that is heavily infested with algae. After killing the algae with a super dose of chlorine plus QSAN use PAC to clear the murky water.

The benefits of using PAC:
  • High activity means lower dose rates
  • Wide pH tolerance reduces the need for pH adjustment
  • Works well at any temperature
  • Rapid, dense floc formation means quicker results
  • Effective at treating high turbidity, organic pollution and colour
  • Its soluble solution form makes it very easy to use

Q-SAN

Q-SAN is a truly unique product in that it is multi functional. It works as an algaecide, an algaestat,a chlorine enhancer, a coagulant and a decolouriser.

Use Q-SAN on its own or with chlorine to help maintain pool water in clean condition or to clear algae infested pool water.

Using Q-SAN regularly:
  • Helps keep pool water clear by coagulating fine particles into bigger lumps so they are more readily filtered out of the water.
  • Makes chlorine more effective at killing bacteria and algae.
  • Helps clear discolouration caused by mineral or organic contamination (quite common in rural areas).
  • Helps keep pool water clear of algal growth.

Dichlor

Dichlor is typically sold in granular form, providing a simple and convenient way to chlorinate pools and spas. Dichlor is completely soluble in water and does not generate insoluble solids. Also, dichlor does not contribute to scaling, making it suitable for hard water.

Dichlor contains cyanuric acid, and when dichlor is used, 0.9 ppm of cyanuric acid is added to the water for each ppm of available chlorine added. A certain amount of cyanuric acid (usually within the range of 30 to 50 ppm) is necessary to protect the chlorine in outdoor pools from degradation by sunlight. When the recommended level of cyanuric acid is maintained, it enables the free chlorine to last three to four times longer than free chlorine in outdoor pools without cyanuric acid.

Calchlor

Calcium Hypochlorite is a strong granular chlorine which is used to kill algae and bacteria as well as other harmful water contaminants. It is also a great shock treatment to use when restarting your pools

Benefits:
  • Effective water sanitizer and oxidiser
  • Does not contain Cyanuric Acid

Banish Blackspot

BANISH had been especially formulated to kill the cyanobacteria commonly called “blackspot” that grows on pool surfaces, particularly concrete and plaster and in tile grouting. It very often occurs in salt water pools and colonizes a pool surface even when the water is crystal clear. BANISH will also remove stubborn wall-clinging green algae.

Blackspot is very difficult to treat successfully because the outer polysaccharide slime acts as a barrier to any systemic treatment. BANISH is designed to break down this protective coating and expose the fungi and the bacteria to the active ingredient.

Hydochloric Acid

Hydrochloric Acid is used to lower the pH in swimming pools and correct high alkalinity. Very high pH can cause cloudy water, scale formation, eye irritation and a slowing of the rate at which the sanitiser kills bacteria and algae. The ideal pH range is 7.2 to 7.8.

Benefits:

  • Quickly lowers the pH and alkalinity

MicroClean 301

MicroClean301 is a blend of cationic polymers, designed to enhance the performance of normal pool water treatment. It works over a wide pH range, produces amazing water clarity, reduces the microbiological count and reduces odour.

MicroClean301 is a carefully formulated blend of ClearAll303 and Clarifier101, combining the properties of both products. When used as part of a pool water maintenance programme, it acts as an algaecide, an algaestat, a coagulant, a flocculant, a bactericide and a chlorine enhancer.

MicroClean301 is compatible with all other swimming pool chemicals, working synergistically with chlorine improving its effectiveness as an bactericide and algaecide. It will not cause foam or interfere with the efficient operation of any type of filter.

It coagulates fine particulate matter trapping it in a “floc” that pool filters can more readily remove. It also accelerates the settling of these solids to the bottom of the pool, so that vacuuming is more effective.

The advantages of using MicroClean301:
  • It works very quickly to produce crystal clear water.
  • It does no effect the pH nor any of the other water chemistry.
  • It does not introduce metal cations into the water.
  • It has very little effect on the TDS (total dissolved solids) of the water.
  • It is non‐corrosive.
  • It makes chlorine more effective.
  • It helps clear dissolved colours from water.
  • It helps keep pool water clear of algal growth.

Alchor Gold

Alchlor Gold is a very high basicity polymeric aluminum chlorohydrate coagulant with a minimum aluminium content, as Al2O3, of 25.5%. As the Al2O3 level increases the performance improves exponentially – a lot less does a lot more.

Alchlor Gold has many advantages over alum and standard polyaluminium chloride coagulants. It will provide considerably better water quality over a much wider range of raw water conditions.

  • You need substantially less Alchlor Gold than standard coagulants.
  • Alchlor Gold is 5/6 hydrolyzed and therefore on application produces only a 1/6 to 1/3 the acid alum and PAC do.
  • It does not break down when diluted so dilute solutions stay at full strength.
  • Because Alchlor Gold is 5/6 pre-hydrolyzed the complete hydrolysis to aluminium hydroxide is much faster.
  • Having to use smaller doses means less storage and reduced freight costs.
  • Alchlor Gold has superior cold water performance to other coagulants.
  • Alchlor Gold performs better over a much wider pH range than other coagulants - pH 6.0 to 9.5.
  • Because Alchlor Gold is more effective at pH8+ manganese and iron can be readily oxidized and coagulated.
  • Alchlor Gold reacts very quickly, forming significantly larger, gibbstitic, crystalline, floc:
    • Much lower aluminium levels in the treated water.
    • Dries much faster and shrinks to about a 1/4 of its original volume.
    • The crystalline floc enhances filtration in membrane filters and dramatically increase filter runs.
  • Lower doses mean:
    • Lower TDS levels.
    • Less sludge.
  • Alchlor Gold is not classified as a DG so storage requirements are not so onerous.
  • Alchlor Gold achieves excellent clarification of high turbidity waters such as flood water.
  • Alchlor Gold does not contain sulphate.
  • Alchlor Gold allows plant operators to set a dose to cover a very wide range of water conditions.
  • Alchlor Gold is more effective at removing biological organisms such as algae.

In addition to all the benefits of operational performance and resultant water quality outlined above, Alchlor Gold is the most cost effective coagulant, in most cases with overall savings of 10% to 50%.
