Activ-Ox is a uniquely safe means of producing chlorine dioxide. 
Chlorine dioxide is one of the most powerful disinfectants there is. Unlike chlorine it does not react with water to produce chlorinated compounds;
 it dissolves in water as a gas. This unique property provides some very real benefits for treating water.
Activ-Ox kills a greater range of bacteria than chlorine. It also kills viruses and protozoa (cryptosporidium and giardia) and is very effective against legionella.
Activ-Ox is very effective at penetrating bio-film and killing amoebae.
Activ-Ox does not chlorinate but acts as a pure oxidizing agent using the power of “Active Oxygen”, a term used by chemists to describe oxidants with similar mechanisms such as peroxides.
Activ-Ox is very efficient:
  • It produces an instant very high yield of chlorine dioxide without the need of holding tanks, nor particularly hazardous activation chemicals.
  • It can be very accurately dosed, monitored and controlled.
  • It is much more efficient than the so called ’Stabilised Chlorine Dioxide Solutions’.
  • It does not produce chlorinated by-products that cause taste, odour and health problems.
  • It’s efficacy is unaffected by water chemistry factors such as pH, hardness and alkalinity.

The Activ-Ox dosing system is safe and easy to use:
  • Because the chlorine dioxide activates instantaneously there is no need for reaction vessels, mixing chambers or dilution tanks containing large volumes of concentrated chlorine dioxide.
  • Activation occurs in a small reaction manifold housed in the water pipe so there is no chlorine dioxide sitting in a fragile injection tube.
  • Chlorine dioxide is only produced in solution and there are only ever a few milliliters of concentrated solution held in the manifold so there is no explosion hazard.
  • The dosing pumps are controlled automatically by a pulsed water meter to prevent overdosing.

As a further precaution against the inadvertent mixing of the chemicals:
  • All the dosing tubes are double walled.
  • The pumps are mounted in enclosed plastic boxes.
  • The two constituent chemicals are double drummed.

Activ-Ox was developed by two chemists in the UK to specifically treat potable water for legionella. SCL has the exclusive right to use this clever technology in Australasia and the South Pacific. After two years of trials SCL has developed the equipment and the know-how to offer Activ-Ox as a very viable treatment for:
  • Potable and drinking water.
  • Cooling tower water. 
  • Swimming pool and spa pool water.
  • Waste water. 
  • Process water.
